Places to Eat: Pearl’s Diner, Felixstow

If you know Burger Theory, you’d probably heard of Pearl’s Diner by now.

Situated in the suburbs of Felixstow just a short distance out of the Adelaide CBD, Pearl’s Diner is a collaboration between the peeps of Burger Theory and La Waffle. It has been only a month(?) since opening but it is already bustling and there is an almost guaranteed queue during dinner hours if not booked in advance despite its unassuming exterior.

Let’s start off with a  huge picture of condiments – just because they’re sexy that way. A special mention for someone’s ‘Mojo Jojo’ chilli.

The variety of sauces available was very gratifying – especially since they weren’t just the usual chilli and ketchup combo. I found the Cholula Hot Sauce (right most) was especially good with the chips :)

Buttermilk Fried Chicken with Coleslaw.

It was good. Not great, but definitely good. I don’t know if it was just this batch, but it was a little.. soggy.. and slightly too pink for my liking. So yes, it was good, but not enough to stand out.

And naturally the highlight is of course, the burgers.

This is Burger #1 with iceberg lettuce, tomato, American cheese and truck sauce.

Beautiful colour on the Coorong Angus beef patty and the bun was oh-so-awesome. Looks better on a plate compared to a takeaway bag too :P It is a tad bit pricier compared to the truck, but I suppose that’s fair seeing as you’ve got a table/chair for your meal and chips on the side.

There’s also an option for coffee and milkshakes if you’re dining at Pearls. I didn’t order any, but my companion enjoyed hers, so it’s worth a try if you’re a fan of milkshakes!

In conclusion, worth going! The burgers are excellent – especially when you’re too tired/lazy to chase down the truck. Just be careful of peak hour as the wait for a table might take a while. But heck, I reckon it’s worth the wait.

I would’ve ordered dessert if only I wasn’t so full. Would probably try it the next round, but I’m sure I won’t be disappointed :)

Just slightly. It was only in one out of the 3 pieces though, so I’ll assume it isn’t a regular occurrence. They ground and shape the patty themselves daily, so it IS very fresh.

Haha, detox is always good. I should do the lemon water in the morning thing soon too. But hey, revenge for all those lovely pictures from you!
